| What
is the truth of
Opus Dei? |
| “Opus
Dei” the phrase, translates from the latin as
“work of God”; something many have tried,
or claimed, to do.
“Opus
Dei” the organisation has been recently publicised
(demonized?) in the best selling novel “The Da
Vinci Code” by Dan Brown. Without getting into
any personal opinions, here are some facts about it. |

| Opus
Dei was founded in 1928 as a catholic organisation based in
Rome. They now boast over 80,000 members in 60 countries. The
Catholicism practised by Opus Dei members is a very strict reading
of the gospels and scriptures and one of the major controversies
surrounding the organisation is the belief by some that members
practise corporal mortification (a form of self-inflicted torture). |

bring them also, and they will heed my voice. So there
shall be one flock, one shepherd.
(John
10:16)
